PolarSolar Regional and Global Initiatives
We exist to design and install sustainable water heating systems of the highest quality for our customers. We do this because addressing the energy consumption associated with heating water is necessary in order to curb residential greenhouse gas emissions. Solar water heating in particular is typically the most cost effective way to substantially reduce CO2 emissions in the home - installing a solar water heater reduces the associated energy consumption by up to 90 percent - equivalent to taking a car off the road...and on a purely economical level, why would one pay to import and burn natural gas for water heating when a clean, plentiful, and entirely renewable source of energy shines down on us every day?
Central to our service is the creation of our Global Initiative to provide low-cost solar water heaters to some of the globe’s poorest families. Every day, 1.4 billion people must bathe and wash clothes and dishes in cold water because the energy needed to heat large quantities of water is too expensive. In fact, if done on a daily basis, heating water for bathing and cooking would be the single-most expensive energy cost for households in developing nations.
We can change this situation because ultra-affordable solar water heaters can dependably heat water using the sun’s free energy. PolarSolar aims to significantly increase the quality of life for people that cannot currently afford the simple amenity of hot water buy providing a solar water heating unit to a family in need for every system sold in the United States.
